In an interview with the club's website, Onana shared his thoughts on his time on the pitch: "When I'm on the field, I either win or I learn. I'll never consider myself a loser. Looking back, I've had a truly fantastic career."
Onana has had a diverse playing career, representing Barcelona, Ajax, Inter Milan, Manchester United, Trabzonspor, and the Cameroon national team.
He also recalled being nominated for the Ballon d'Or goalkeeper award during his time with Inter Milan.
Onana shared a conversation he had with Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson, who congratulated him on his nomination but cautioned that the award wasn't yet decided.
Onana responded that he didn't care about the award, as he had already achieved something significant by being the first black goalkeeper and the first African to be nominated.
