Bayern had previously reached a personal agreement with Nkunku in January, but the deal fell through due to Chelsea's high valuation of €70m. However, with Nkunku now available for transfer, Bayern is hopeful that Chelsea will be more realistic with their asking price.
The driving force behind this move is Bayern chief Max Eberl, who has been a long-time admirer of Nkunku's abilities. Eberl first took notice of Nkunku during his time with RB Leipzig.
