The Magpies are prepared to make a move for Openda if they are unable to convince Brentford to sell Yoane Wissa, who had a £25 million offer rejected last week.

Openda has played for RB Leipzig for two seasons, scoring 41 goals in 90 appearances. He is expected to be sold by the German club for around €50 million.
