Burnley responded with a chance of their own, as Jaidon Anthony's curling effort forced Dean Henderson to make a save.
Scott Parker's team felt they were denied a penalty when Anthony went down under a challenge from Chris Richards, but the referee and VAR disagreed.
Just before halftime, Palace took the lead when Marc Guéhi's cross found Daniel Muñoz at the back post, who easily headed the ball into the far corner.
Manager Scott Parker made a change at halftime, bringing on Jacob Bruun Larsen in place of an injured player. However, the substitution did not seem to make a significant impact on the game.
Burnley were lucky to remain in the game as the match wore on, particularly when Mateta broke clear on goal and was denied by an incredible save from Dúbravka.
The Clarets were unable to find an equalizer, and Palace secured the win.
