Alba began his youth career at Barcelona, but was initially released by the club due to his small stature. He later rejoined Barcelona in 2012 for a transfer fee of 14 million euros, spending 11 seasons with the Catalan team. During his time at Barcelona, Alba won six LaLiga titles, the Champions League, the Club World Cup, and five Copa del Rey trophies.
In 2023, Alba joined Inter Miami, where he was reunited with former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Luis Suarez. Current Inter Miami coach Javier Mascherano is also a former Barcelona colleague of Alba's.
Alba has stated that he is ending his career with a sense of conviction, peace, and happiness. The 36-year-old previously retired from international football in 2023, after making 93 appearances for Spain and contributing to the team's Euro 2012 victory over Italy.
Alba's achievements include his time in the US, where he won the Leagues Cup and Supporters' Shield with Inter Miami. He will officially retire in November, following the MLS playoffs.
