Before the tournament began, Shearer predicted that England has a chance to win if Kane performs well. He said that as long as Kane is in good form and the team defends well, they have a live chance of winning the World Cup.
Shearer also noted that Kane won't play every minute of every game, even if the team is winning comfortably. He expects the manager to take Kane off the field and rest him to ensure he's ready for the next game.
Kane is aiming to end 50 years of hurt for England and has his eyes set on the Ballon d'Or award, which has been claimed by players who have gone on to win the World Cup in the past.
Four of the last seven Ballon d'Or awards have been given to players who ultimately lifted the World Cup trophy. Kane will be looking to follow in their footsteps this summer.
