David Sullivan has released a statement denying any wrongdoing and announcing plans to take legal action against the BBC over reports he claims are false. He says the allegations have been sensationalized by the media and that he has not been provided with any proper explanation for how they were verified or assessed for credibility.
Sullivan believes the process has been fundamentally unfair and lacking in impartiality. He will be suing the BBC for libel, along with any other media outlet that repeats libellous allegations.
Sullivan spoke about stepping away from his role at West Ham, saying it was a painful decision made out of love and respect for the club and its fans. He hopes the club can move forward in the right direction and has confidence in the Board of Directors and interim CEO Karim Virani.
Sullivan thanked everyone connected with West Ham United, past and present, for their loyalty, friendship, and memories. He has total confidence that the club will continue to succeed in the future.
