Carvalho is the second Portuguese player to join a Mexican team, following in the footsteps of Paulinho. He was officially unveiled as a Pachuca player, a team currently ranked second in the Mexican Apertura with six points.
During his seven years at Real Betis, Carvalho helped the team as a European champion with Portugal. However, his time at the club was cut short due to a ruptured Achilles tendon in his right leg, which limited his playing time in the previous season.
