Sunderland appears to be in the lead, as the club's newly appointed sporting director, Florent Ghisolfi, previously signed Dovbyk for Roma from Girona.

Roma had paid a transfer fee of up to €36 million for Dovbyk, but are now willing to sell him for €27 million in the coming weeks.
