Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that Real Madrid is willing to start negotiations with Calafiori's representatives to determine if Arsenal is willing to sell the defender.

Calafiori, 24, played a key role for Arsenal in their recent title-winning season. However, he may have the opportunity to reunite with Mourinho at Real Madrid, as the two worked together at Roma in 2022.

During his time at Roma, Calafiori was part of the team that won the Europa Conference League under Mourinho's leadership. However, he only made 12 appearances during that season and left the club in the summer to join Basel.

Since joining Arsenal from Bologna in 2024, Calafiori's value and stock have increased significantly, making him one of Mikel Arteta's most important players. It remains to be seen whether he will choose to stay at the Emirates Stadium or join Real Madrid.
